What the pilot includes
The pilot begins with AI Universe deployed directly into your Azure subscription, covering the container app, APIM, AI Foundry, Entra ID, Key Vault and monitoring. Within this platform, you get one fully isolated application environment, the “pilot galaxy”, complete with its own repository, identity and governed model access.
On top of this, we build one working AI application, scoped together with you during discovery, to serve as the pilot’s concrete use case.
Delivery runs through a security-gated CI/CD pipeline that includes secret scanning, static analysis and dependency auditing, so the application is built to a production-grade standard from the outset. Access to models is controlled through a governed gateway: APIM configuration enforces model access controls and token limits, with Azure Content Safety active from day one.
We also configure the wisdom layer for your organisation, combining the Fortytwo baseline with your specific organisational tier. To ensure your team can operate and extend the platform independently, we run two to four knowledge transfer sessions with your pilot team, and conclude with handover documentation covering the architecture decisions made, a configuration guide, and recommended next steps for scaling beyond the pilot.

Your team builds and deploys a module independently, with no Fortytwo involvement required in the development workflow.
You bring
To get started, we’ll need a few things from your side. Access to your Azure subscription with Owner or Contributor rights, so we can deploy the platform, along with a Microsoft Entra ID tenant where admin consent can be granted. We’ll also need access to your GitHub organisation or Azure DevOps for the pipeline setup.
On the business side, a defined pilot use case with an assigned business owner will help anchor the work, and one to two developers should be available to join the pilot team and take part in the onboarding sessions. Finally, we’ll need access to the relevant data sources tied to the pilot use case.
Fortytwo delivers
On our side, Fortytwo takes care of the full platform deployment and configuration within your Azure tenant, along with architecture and governance design tailored to your environment. We run developer onboarding and knowledge transfer over two to four sessions, and support use case scoping and module build guidance throughout the pilot.
Throughout the pilot period, you’ll have ongoing support from us, and at the end we hand over full documentation, including an architecture decision log.
Expand to additional galaxies
Each new use case gets its own isolated galaxy. The shared platform foundation is already in place, so provisioning a new galaxy takes minutes, not months.
Platform maintenance model
Fortytwo delivers improvements as container image updates. You control when updates are applied, so the shared foundation improves without disrupting running galaxies.
Your team takes the lead
After onboarding, your team builds new features, modules and galaxies independently, applying what they learned during the pilot to future work.

Fortytwo remains available for architecture support and maintenance, giving your team a partner to lean on as the platform scales.

How long does it take to deploy a pilot galaxy?
Platform deployment into your Azure subscription and setup of the isolated pilot galaxy typically happens within the first phase of the engagement. Since the shared platform foundation is already in place, provisioning a new galaxy is fast, and your team can move into onboarding and use case scoping shortly after.
What does “governed model access” actually mean in the pilot?
It means every AI call in your pilot application routes through APIM, with model access controls, token limits and Azure Content Safety active from day one. This follows the same identity-first principle Fortytwo applies across its work: AI access is treated as a governed identity with clear ownership, least-privilege access and continuous monitoring, rather than an open, unmanaged connection.
Do we need in-house AI or Azure expertise to run the pilot?
You’ll need one to two developers available for onboarding, but deep AI or Azure expertise isn’t a prerequisite. Fortytwo delivers two to four knowledge transfer sessions during the pilot specifically so your team can build and deploy independently once the platform is in place.
What happens to the pilot galaxy after the pilot ends?
The galaxy remains in place as a working foundation. Additional galaxies can be provisioned for new use cases in minutes rather than months, Fortytwo continues delivering platform improvements as container image updates you control, and your team takes the lead on building new features and modules, with Fortytwo available for ongoing architecture support.
