Meet Fortytwo’s newest employee: Victor Morales

Fortytwo is growing, and our latest addition in Finland, Senior Cloud Engineer Victor Morales, brings a broad background across telecommunications, public cloud, automation and AI-enabled delivery.

With experience from complex environments and large Finnish organizations, he joins Fortytwo with both deep technical expertise and a strong drive to improve the way things work.

Why Fortytwo?

For Victor, Fortytwo felt like the right place because of both the people and the mindset.

“I spoke with Robert, Fortytwo’s CEO, years ago when he had a leadership role in TietoEVRY/Tieto. It was a large organization, and I was surprised he even took my call, but he did, listening to my ideas, asking thoughtful questions, and taking the time to understand what I was trying to say. That stuck with me,” says Victor.

He also knows James Wright from earlier in his career, when he first entered the public cloud sector. Over the years, James has been an inspiring colleague, and his positive descriptions of Fortytwo’s people, culture and work made an impression.

“In the age of AI, I believe you need to be part of an agile organization that truly embraces bleeding-edge tools. The speed of change is accelerating, and constantly adapting to that change is the name of the game. I believe Fortytwo is a great place to be for this new reality”.

Where He’s been

His journey started in Mexico, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and Communication Systems. From there, he spent five years working with technical systems in the oil and gas industry, including logging and perforating.

He later moved to Finland to complete a master’s degree in Telecommunications, majoring in Networking Technology. That led him into the telecommunications industry, where he worked mainly with mobile backhaul, IP/MPLS networks and associated management systems.

After time at a Finnish startup, he was inspired to move into public cloud infrastructure. There, he worked with large Finnish organizations on public cloud projects and service delivery, including Kesko, Fennia, Elo, Ilmarinen, Finnish Railways, Sanoma Media, Fortum, Kone and DigiFinland.

His responsibilities have covered regular operations, critical networking changes, CI/CD workflows, Infrastructure as Code and automation. Over time, automation became a particular passion, and in recent years, AI has become a natural accelerator in that work.

“I have primarily worked with Microsoft Azure and other Microsoft technologies, but also with other public cloud providers. Since 2024, I have gradually shifted more of my workflows toward AI, and I have seen how much value it can create when used well.”

What he brings

Beyond technical expertise, Victor brings a mindset built around improvement.

“It is said that all progress is delivered by dissatisfied people. I am always dissatisfied with the status quo, no matter how good it is, and I look for opportunities to improve any system I am part of.”

But dissatisfaction, to him, is not about negativity. It is about care.

“I bring care. Care for oneself, for colleagues, for the customer and for the environment. So I bring technical expertise, I bring dissatisfaction, and I bring care.”

What sets Victor apart

Victor combines technical depth with an instinct for making systems better.

He is not satisfied with simply keeping things running, but wants to understand how they can become clearer, safer, faster and more useful.

That mindset has followed him across industries, from oil and gas to telecom, startups, public cloud and now AI-enabled cloud operations.

Victor outside of work

In his free time, he enjoys staying active through wall climbing, swimming, cycling and running, which eventually led him into triathlon.

“My dream race is the Norwegian Norseman,” he says.

One IT buzzword he’d erase

If he could remove one IT buzzword forever, it would be “AIOps”.

“To me, the term makes it sound like AI in operations is somehow special and separate from what we do every day. I believe AI should be used, with proper security guardrails, across deployments. Maybe not always to make automated changes, but certainly to suggest actions, review logs, assess changes and help us work better.”

We are truly excited to welcome Victor to Fortytwo.
