Meet Fortytwo’s Newest Employee: Julie Remen

Fortytwo is growing, and we are strengthening the team with new expertise. We are pleased to welcome Julie Remen as our new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). With more than a decade of experience in marketing and communication from high-growth technology companies, Julie will lead Fortytwo’s marketing efforts as we enter the next phase of our journey.

Why Fortytwo?

For Julie, Fortytwo’s reputation spoke for itself. The company’s customer portfolio and the way others describe working with Fortytwo were clear indicators of both deep expertise and a strong culture. “They focus not only on delivering top-tier quality in their services and products, but also on keeping the humanness in everything they do; on the tech side and the people side,” she says. Joining Fortytwo at this stage felt like a natural next step, and she is excited to contribute to what comes next.

What she brings

Julie’s background is rooted in tech startups and scaleups during periods of rapid change and growth. This has given her extensive experience in building and executing marketing strategies while navigating evolving technologies and organisations. She has been part of many successful initiatives—and learned just as much from the mistakes along the way. Both have shaped her practical, outcome-oriented approach. “Those experiences are what I bring with me into this role,” she says.

Where she has been

Julie has worked in marketing and communication for more than 12 years, collaborating with ambitious companies and talented people in Norway and internationally. Before joining Fortytwo, she spent four years as Head of Marketing at Appfarm, a visual development platform for enterprises, where she helped shape a strong growth journey together with a highly skilled team. Prior to that, she was Marketing Manager at Synergy SKY, who works to simplify and secure video conferencing for large enterprises and the public sector.

What sets her apart

Asked what she can do that no one else can, Julie answers with humour: “I make very good gyoza dumplings and once won an unofficial national championship in rock, paper, scissors.“ On a more serious note, she points to resilience and problem-solving. She approaches challenges with curiosity, explores different solutions, and keeps momentum even when conditions are complex or uncertain.

One buzzword she’d erase

If Julie could retire one buzzword from the IT industry, it would be “AI-powered.” “On its own, it’s no longer evidence of quality or innovation,” she says. “Just because something includes AI doesn’t mean it creates real value.” For her, substance and outcomes matter more than labels.

We are proud to welcome Julie Remen Mæland as CMO at Fortytwo. Her experience, leadership, and human-centred approach add top-tier expertise to the company and will play a key role in shaping how Fortytwo communicates, grows, and positions itself in the market going forward.
